It has been awhile
It has been awhile since I last posted on this poor blog. After Bryce's prom, it seems we have just been really busy.
Brandon graduates from 8th grade tomorrow and I will officially be the mother of 2 in High School. Tell me, when did that happen! I will post pics this w/e.
I have so many projects in the works. I started knitting a halter top for Bridget, I have countless orders to get done and Cherry Tree Avenue is taking off in leaps and bounds. We knew it would happen and it finally has. We have our first official boutique carrying our Holiday line and it will be an exclusive line for their shop only. Will share more on that later.
Our spring collection has sold out and we are working on getting our fall trunk sent out. We have a fabulous new Sales Consultant on board and she is keeping us very busy.
Here is a picture of my projects in the works...

and here is a little set I listed on Etsy - click here to see the shop.

The Assignment
My son (who is 11) was given the following assignment.
What I did for Earth Day?
Why is this important to me?
On "Earth Day", well a few days after Earth Day, 4/24/09 many schools' went to Miller's Cornfield to plant trees as a "giving" for Earth Day. Why it is important to me? Well, technically I wasn't really thinking it was important to me. I mean I went because I had to. I planted trees because I had to not because I wanted to. That's my side of the "field trip".
Now, I was told he didn't do the assignment correctly. I tend to disagree. He was honest and as far as I can tell, he answered the questions.
Comments are encouraged.
After much thought and discussion this week-end, Brock and I worked on this:
On “Earth Day”, well a few days after Earth Day, April 24, 2009, many schools went on a field trip. Our school, St. Joseph was one of the schools that participated in planting trees at Miller’s Cornfield. Miller’s Cornfield is located at Antietam Battlefield. This was a way of “giving” for Earth Day.
When we arrived at Miller’s Cornfield, we were in divided into groups to plant trees. I was with my friend Sean Buchanan. We planted a total of 4 trees. We planted all Dogwood Trees from what I can remember. I know that there were different types of trees to plant. The trees that were planted were Flowering Dogwood, Red and White Oak, Black Walnut and Locust trees.
The question presented in the assignment is “Why is this important to me?” Well technically, I wasn’t really thinking this was important to me. I went because I had to. I planted trees because we were there to plant trees, but not because I really wanted to. So, in my opinion, it wasn’t really important to me.
Now, if asked “Why is Earth Day important?” I would have to give a different answer. Earth Day is important to the environment and life cycle. We need to try to preserve our Earth.
I thought in closing I would provide some facts about Earth Day:
Earth Day is celebrated April 22nd which is also my birthday
Founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970
Observed by 500 million people and national governments in 175 countries
Now today, he got the corrected copy back and I was told it was a "Quick in Class Paragraph", yet a Rubric was used to grade it like it was an essay????

He can't be SERIOUS
Bryce is my oldest and today I receive in the mail (or he received in the mail) an information packet from Hawaii Pacific University!
Really, he thinks I would let him go to Hawaii??? He must be joking!! As everyone who knows me, knows how extremely proud I am of all my children. They all have their own unique personalities and God given talents.
Bryce is turning into such a great young man and is a stellar example of a Teenager. He has fantastic grades, follows the rules for the most part, sets a great example at Church and in the community and is what every parent would want as a teenager. It is very hard for me to think that next year at this time, we will be getting him ready to head to college. And, just so he knows it, he will not be going to Hawaii!!
He is starting down the path of looking into several colleges and also applying to the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy. I'm not sure what path he will take, but whichever path he takes, I know he will be successful and I am extremly proud to call him my son.
This is my favorite picture of him taken with Broderick.

I just love it when my customers share their little sweeties in Bridget and Co. Check out this blog to see Bunny Ears!!
I thought it was Spring Break
Today really should have been a Monday instead of a Tuesday.
I woke up later than planned, probably due to the Benadryl that I took last night in an effort to get some relief from this cold that decided to show up for spring break.
I headed downstairs to the nice doggie mess on the floor - at least it was near the door and on the hardwood. So, I got to clean up that before my coffee.
My plans were to finish up my little "swing sets" and get them listed, but instead I spent the day in the car driving up and down the interstate. Brandon went to the Mall with his little "friend", so I dropped him off and headed home. I managed to tame several St. Joseph Angels calls and make arrangements for car seat deliveries.
Brandon calls to tell me that track practice is at 3pm, not 4pm, so I get in the car to pick him up realizing that I will not be able to run my errands while on that end of town because we live on the other end of town where his practice is, so I call school to make sure practice hasn't been cancelled as I head home with him. The assure me that it is still on! I'm not 5 min from home when I get a text from Bryce that track practice has been cancelled!!! Urg!!! So, I drop off a few kids with Bryce and take Brandon with me to go to WW and pick up a few groceries and a car seat. I also need to make a trip by the vacuum store.
WW is an experience like no other - as always. Then we head to the St Joesph Angels room to pick up the other car seat and the baby basket and other items for the 2 deliveries. We also picked up a bunch of donations and put them in the room. Headed to the hospital and then we are home bound - yippee!! Dropped off the items at the hospital and then meet the other client and we are home - yeah!
I walk in the house, drop off the groceries and realize that the one major item I needed was Vac bags, so off I go again, down the highway to get the Vac bags.
So, it took me 4 trips down the highway to get Vac bags!! Tomorrow, I am not leaving the house, this is my spring break darn it and I want to stay home!! Wait, I think there is a track meet.

Weekends end too quickly
This was a pretty quiet household this week-end. I finished up knitting some hats while Don worked on clearing a spot for our garden. The kids spent most of the time cleaning bedrooms and playing Wii. I should have taken a picture of Brandon and Brock's room as it was a total mess. They rearranged, Brandon brought up his drums from the basement (not sure that was a good idea) and we added a desk to their space. Hmm...drums and a desk to study???
Here is the first of the hats I've finished this week-end. I still have to photograph 2 others and then I'll be listing those as well.

Here is a picture of Don working in the garden space and my poor little bird feeder that the Fat little Squirrel keeps getting into.

Swing Sets on ETSY
I am working through my stash of knit fabrics and have come up with the cutest little sets. I've decided to call them Swing Sets! They are fun and very comfortable and sure to please all little girlies. The leggings I've created to go with them are called Scrunchies. They scrunch up on each side. Here is a sneak peek...

and you can find the rest HERE

Height
Our family seems to be full of people on the shorter side of life. I am 5'2" and Don is only 5'5" and then Bryce is about the same height as his dad. Both sides of the family are pretty short as well. From what I've been told, there is some height on the Peasley side and that has to be where this one got his legs.
Brandon so far is the tallest in our house. It comes in handy when I need something on the top shelf of the cabinets. He has also turned into quite the runner. He will be running Hurdles in his first track meet tomorrow and I'm so proud of him.
