A year in review continued

I just got back from Broderick's IEP meeting. This is also one of the new changes that happened in 2010. One that I didn't see coming. 2010 sure was a pivotal year for our family. So many changes all in one year. I'm a little out of order with the events, but since I had his IEP meeting today I feel that I should reflect on it today and not wait. In September Broderick started speech therapy. I always knew his speech was delayed, but really thought it would work itself out. Well, it didn't. I regret not getting him help sooner, but I can't change back the hands of time. I often wonder if I could would I just wipe out 2010 all together? As therapy progressed it was realized that he indeed needed more intervention, so he started a "special" preschool. I remember leaving with him after his evaluation and he wanted to get on the bus. You know the one, yes, that one, the LITTLE bus. I jokingly said you will not be riding the bus, Mommy will be bringing you and I did. I love his special school. They have done wonders with him and he has grown in leaps and bounds. It was determined that Broderick will not be attending St Joseph (where his siblings went) as he will need additional assistance in Kindergarten. Today I met his new teacher and she informed me of how his day will go and she encouraged that he take the bus. Yes, that Little bus will be at my door in the Fall. I know he needs the independence that it brings, but I hope she knows I will be following it to school that day and I'm sure I will be sitting outside all day in the car (I'll bring my knitting to keep me busy) waiting for him to get on the bus to come home. I still can't believe all the changes that 2010 had in store for our family. Some good, some not so good, but all were and have been an ongoing learning process. I always knew 2010 would be a year, but it wasn't the year I anticipated.
